The petrodollars are still generous in some Middle Eastern countries, but medium-term countries like Saudi Arabia, Dubai or Qatar must seek new forms of income due to the necessary energy change our planet is demanding. Because of this change, most of these countries are turning not only to renewable energy such as solar, but also for tourism or construction of new buildings and monumental architectural ensembles.
We present some examples of destinationss:
DUBAI, ABU DHABI & QATAR
Petroleum has converted former military Doha into a modern city in constant growth. Doha is the capital of Qatar, one of the richest countries in the world. Among the main attractions of Doha are the museums; one of the most popular is the Museum of Islamic Art.
Abu Dhabi, the opulent capital of the United Arab Emirates, has become one of the most attractive destinations in the area. It is possible to visit some of the most representative examples of international architecture. In its cultural district there are several projects under construction by renowned architects like Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Jean Nouvel or Zaha Hadid.
Dubai allows to enjoy nice beaches, high-quality hotels and the exoticism of Arabia and the desert. Dubai is a cosmopolitan city in perpetual changes, where construction goes far beyond the imagination: We can find from the world’s tallest building, to an indoor ski track or a undersea hotel.
