Asia is set to become the leading continent on the planet. A new cycle will change the polarity of the world to this ancient continent, in economic terms but also in others. The industry, economy and even culture and architecture are booming.
We present some of the sample destinations:
JAPAN: TRADITION AND MODERNITY
This trip to Japan is designed to give a close look at the different aspects of the particular Japanese universe. Japan can have both the most traditional and contemporary visions, with a clear emphasis on the disciplines of space: architecture, landscape and urban planing.
The fascination for Japanese culture has been always a topic of analysis for the architects of the modern movement and it is also nowadays. The reality that different Japanese studies of architecture include both tradition and contemporaneity in their buildings, is fascinating for the Western world. This includes both the perception of the object itself, its internal configuration and the relationship it has with the outside.
CHINA: BEIJING AND SHANGHAI
China is the strongest emerging country in the World, but also has been transformed in recent years in several fields. Of course, also in architecture; its growth is reflected in the rise of its buildings.
The 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the recent 2010 International Exposition in Shanghai have increased the activity in architectural firms like Herzog & de Meuron or OMA. Anothers like Toyo Ito , Richard Rogers, Fuksas or Dominique Perrault have made their proposals for the area of Pudong.
Shanghai is the country’s economic capital while Beijing is considered the cultural and social heart. We will visit both cities with a focus on the contrasts between them. Tradition and modernity come together in ever-evolving China.
